Artspace’s annual fundraiser, the infamous 50/50 art auction and draw, is set and ready to go on Saturday, April 18th 2009. This annual Artspace event has been taking place for over twenty years raising funds for the centre dedicated to contemporary art and artists, and is one of the highlights in Peterborough’s arts community. We are very pleased to announce that our main event sponsor will again be Lockington Lawless Fitzpatrick LLP , whose partners have generously come on board in support of our cause for the second year in a row.
This year’s theme for the event is April in Paris, inspired by the film “Le Ballon Rouge” (1956), a fantasy short directed by French filmmaker Albert Lamorisse.
The “April in Paris” 50/50 is an evening of art, music, cocktails and prizes... where over one hundred art works by local and regional artists are up for grabs in a draw, with a $100 ticket price. Every ticket holder is entered into the draw, which takes place throughout the evening, so everyone with a draw ticket is guaranteed to go home with an original artwork. Many of the contributing artists will be present, and the event is an excellent opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the best talent this community has to offer. General entry tickets are also available.
The event this year includes a silent auction of selected large pieces, Red Balloon prizes donated by local businesses, a free cocktail with every ticket and entertainment provided by Jean-Michele Mongrell.
Exhibition of all artworks will be on display starting Wednesday, April 15th and continues until Saturday, April 18th.
We would like to thank all local businesses for contributing services and prizes and all volunteers and committee members for organizing the event, and especially the artists, who without their generosity this event would not exist.
