Summer 2009: Artspace celebrates its 35th year of programming!
And while we prepare for the celebrations coming this September, we are opening up the main exhibition space for our ARCHIVES LAB.
ARCHIVES LAB is a project looking at the history of the centre through an extensive collection of materials recovered after the flood five years ago, along with materials collected from members and the community and stories shared and told that fill in the many gaps in our history. Our aim is to compile the most detailed and comprehensive history of exhibitions and events since the first exhibition produced by the centre in 1974.
With this in mind we are releasing a national call to artists, curators, and those affiliated with ARTSPACE to help us find the missing links. If you have documents, photographs, catalogues, or any other material produced by Artspace, we very much want to see it! If you have stories, anecdotes, recordings or any other documents you think will be important in this project, please share them with us!
We will be collecting all materials over the months of July and August, with a completed restoration of our archives slated for September and a big celebration party set for Friday, September 25th.
Any and ALL documents can be sent to:
