Lines of Migration

Paintings by

Kenwyn Crichlow & Obiora Udechukwu

May 23 - June 20, 2003

Lines of Migration features the paintings of Kenwyn Crichlow and Obiora Udechukwu. The work references specific and sometimes tragic events in history and addresses the issues of the diaspora and its profound effect on the identity of a people and its culture. Through the process of creating these works, Crichlow and Udechukwu seek meaning and identity within their own personal histories and at the same time, endeavour to make sense of the ambiguities and contradictions of present-day culture. Lines of Migration serves as metaphor for those often indistinct lines that serve to include or reject, unify or separate, root or displace.
