Now in its 20th year, the 50/50 art auction, Artspace’s premier fundraising
event, profiles works by local and regional artists and showcases the diversity
of artistic talent within our community. It continues to grow in size and reputation
each year, being Artspace’s largest spring event and a cultural highlight within
Peterborough. We are excited to be hosting this event in our main gallery space
and with new event partners we hope to make this 50/50 our most successful
one yet.
The theme for this year’s 50/50 fundraiser is a “New York Stopover”.
The main event of the evening is a draw featuring over 100 original artworks.
Every first class ticket holder is entered into the draw guaranteeing that they
will walk out the door with one of the works. The 50/50 also features a raucous
live auction, complimented by live jazz, Manhattan cocktails, and many prizes
donated by local businesses and organizations. Proceeds from the event are
split 50/50 between participating artists and Artspace and will be matched by
the Ontario Arts Foundation.
Participating artists include: George Raab, John Climenhage, Peter Barron,
Peer Christensen, Deirdre Chisholm, Shannon Taylor, Beth McCubbin, Wendy
Trusler, Micky Renders, David Parson, Jenn Cole, Sacha Archer, Dan English,
Beth McCubbin, Margo Davis, Lyall Brownlee, Leigh Macdonald, Laurel Paluck
and many others.
Ongoing support from our donors and members is essential in continuing
the development of our programs and initiatives here at Artspace. In operation
for over 30 years, we are one of the most dynamic artist-run centres in the
country and we continue to have a profound role in the local arts community.
By presenting new works in contemporary art and providing an open environment
for our members and the public to engage in cultural exchange, we create a
“launching pad” for the next generation of ideas in Canadian art.
Tickets are $100,
and include admission for 2, one free drink and one piece of original art.
General admission is $15.
